Samadnya Dhawaleshwar became the first woman to don the Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra crown, presented by P N Gadgil and Sons, on Saturday (February 17) night as the pageant concluded amidst much cheer and celebration. Samadnya impressed the judges with her elegance and beauty even as she accepted the crown modestly and walked down the ramp with complete confidence. A moment she won’t forget anytime soon arrived when her parents joined her on stage and her father, smiling from ear to ear, fed her sweets as the proud mother gave her a tight hug.
The event was indeed a star-studded night full of style and glamour, with Umesh Jadhav, Mrunal Kulkarni, Aditi Govitrikar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Renu Gadgil and Nanik Jaisinghani judging the contest.
A total of 32 contestants competed against each other wearing bright ghagra cholis, confidently walking the ramp. Of these, 12 qualified for the semi-finals, as the event was interspersed with a mesmerising performance by MJ 5 including their very famous Moonwalk which left the audience awestruck. The contestants too performed dances, songs and acts which impressed the judges and the audience alike. The performance by Mrunmayee Deshpande and Sanskruti Balgude put some more energy into the atmosphere while the melodious songs by Rohit Raut helped the contestants to stay calm and keep their anxiety at bay.
The 12 semi-finalists made their way on to the stage in their glamorous gowns followed by the other contestants walking down the ramp one last time. Sakshi Patil went on to be crowned Miss Talented while the title of Miss Beautiful Hair was won by Ketki Bhave. The Miss Best Makeover went to Samadnya Dhawaleshwar and Tabassum Mullah won the Miss Beautiful Smile. While Apurva Chavan was crowned Miss Photogenic, Trisha Mukherjee accepted the crown for Miss Fashion Icon as Simran Patil accepted the title of Miss Confident. Priya Singh won the title of Miss Active for the energetic act that she had put up and Aishwarya Dalvi won the Miss Glowing Skin. The Miss Beautiful Body was awarded to Akshata Sawant.
Six contestants made their way to the finals, and Priya Singh became the first runner-up and Tabassum Mullah was crowned the second runner-up.
The event was attended by Pratap Pawar, chairman, Sakal, along with Pradeep Dwivedi, chief executive officer, Sakal, while Ajit Gadgil, owner, P N Gadgil and Sons, was also present.
