Recently, Gustavo Leite, Paraguay’s Minister of Industry and Commerce explained that Qatar has good sign of competitiveness in the global market.
In an interview, the Paraguayan minister with Lusail newspaper stated that Qatar has quite surprised the world by the way it has smoothly handled the current Gulf disaster and the launching of the Hamad Port under the siege. He also said that he is quite hopeful that the Kuwaiti mediation will resolve the disaster within the Gulf house.
Leite observed that a high-ranking Qatari ministerial delegation is anticipated to come to Paraguay in coming days to fortify relations in different fields. He explained that initiations are in progress to open an air route between Doha and the Paraguay capital of Asuncion. He has requested all the Qatari investors to invest in his country particularly on agriculture and services.
The minister emphasized that Paraguay has diverse investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture. Here 95% of the land is productive and appropriate for farming, which in return is a low-cost investment with enormous benefit. To note, the country does not have any transport or logistic problems as such.
The minister on this context highlighted that there are initiations to set up two food production lines between the two countries. He said Paraguay considers Qatar a friendly country.
“Tourists make up about 20% of its population. Paraguay welcomes any Qatari investments in this field.”
According to the minister, Paraguay has great advantages and facilities to the Qatari investor. “There is no tax on foreign investments; in addition Paraguay has a highly competitive investment environment and is a major destination for capital in the region.”
