JAIPUR: In yet another incident of hit-and-run in the city, a 36-year-old man was killed while another was injured after a bike on which they were travelling was hit by a speeding white SUV at VT Road in Mansarovar under the limits of Muhana police station area.
The deceased has been identified as Surendra Vaishnav, a resident of Mansarovar area. His friend, Laxman Choudhary was rushed to the SMS hospital where his condition is stated to be critical. Muhana police said that a case will be filed against the driver who fled from the area without bothering to take the injured to the hospital.

Banne Singh, sub-inspector posted at the Muhana police station informed TOI that CCTV footage was retrieved which showed that a speeding SUV which was coming from VT Road lost control due to high speed. It then hit the two youths who were riding on a bike.

“The bike was coming from behind; the SUV which had lost control rammed into the bike. While Surendra was killed on the spot, Laxman was found still breathing by the people who rushed him to a hospital and informed the control room about the accident,” Singh said.

The police could not get many details about the registration number and the driver. Though sources in the police informed TOI that seniors have directed the Muhana police station to take the case seriously and track down the accused.

“The accused may have been drunk because a heavy SUV like the one which he was driving doesn’t lose control easily. We have scanned the footage of nearby areas to understand which way he fled,” an official said, adding that an FIR will be filed soon in the case.

Speaking about the condition of Laxman Singh, the police said that he was admitted into ICU. “He is battling for life, the accident was very severe. He has sustained serious injuries on the head and has internal factures,” said the official.
