Bhopal: Former union minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav on Sunday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam and said that centre should reveal the total number of non-performing assets of Indian banks.

“People like Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya took Indians’ money and absconded. But PM Narendra Modi and his government are not able to catch these scamsters specially when PM and his ministers claim that they are a super power,” Yadav told mediapersons here.

He said that the government has failed to secure public money specially when Reserve Bank of India is controlled by the government, the banks are controlled by the government and the banks’ boards have government directors. “But scamsters looted the money of Indians and absconded,” he said.

Responding to a query, Yadav said that NDA government is a “responsibility shifter.” He pointed out that the spokesperson of the government always claims that scams took place during Congress rule. “125 crore Indians did not give mandate to present government to shift the blame on previous government,” he remarked and raised questions on Digital India and demonetisation. He said that Digital India has become a tool to harass people.

Speaking further, he said that BJP will take out Rath Yatra from Ayodhaya. “This will create employment for youths? This will increase agricultural productivity?” Yadav demanded to know and said that government is expert in creating fuss over unnecessary issues to divert public attention from important issues like employment.

He also alleged that chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government has destroyed Narmada, Tapti and other rivers in last 10 years. “But to gain political edge, CM conducted Narmada Yatra,” he said.
