PNB fraud: Mayawati questions Modi on good governance promise

| | Lucknow | in Lucknow

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the PNB fraud and questioned what had happened about the good governance promised by the BJP before the elections.

“The so called favorites of the BJP had siphoned off Rs 20,000 crore due to the failures of the banking system and government machinery. What has happened to the slogan of Modi “Na khaunga na khaane dunga” (I will take bribe nor allow anyone to take money,” she said.

In a statement here on Sunday, the BSP president said the people of the country have already forgotten the ‘ Acche din’ slogan of the BJP but now the hard earned money of the people collected through demonetization was being siphoned off by industrialists, close to the government.

“What happened about the good governance promised by Narendra Modi,” she questioned.

Mayawati said that when people are still waiting for the promise made by the BJP in 2014 to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of the poor people, the recent bank fraud gives a picture of how the government was keeping its eyes shut on the financial scams.

She also alleged that now the BJP government was trying to cover up the matter and was blaming others for the fraud which happened only due to its own lapses.
