Karan Johar announces ‘Rannbhoomi’ with Shashank and Varun

Filmmaker-actor Karan Johar announced his next production Rannbhoomi on Monday. While Shashank Khaitan will direct the film, Varun Dhawan will be seen in a never-seen-avatar in the film, which will release during Diwali 2020. This is the third time that the trio is working together. Previously, they delivered two films in the Dulhania series — Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

According to a source close to the project, this time, Shashank will switch genres and focus on creating an action-drama loaded with emotions and opulence in equal measure. “A love story at heart, the film will have an element of revenge at the core of the narrative. The makers aim to turn this project into a cinematic experience worthy of a mega festive release,” added the source.

Karan, confirming the news sitting miles away in Berlin said, “Rannbhoomi is Shashank’s colossal and ambitious imagination to attempt a hat-trick with Varun. Shashank and Varun make an epic blend of creative and commercial extravaganza, which is Dharma Productions’ vision for the next few projects.”

He even tweeted, “Remaining lead cast to be announced soon! DharmaMovies, Apoorva Mehta.”
