District Police Chief (DPC) Shiva Vikram G. has said that the two CPI(M) workers arrested in connection with the murder of Youth Congress worker S.P. Shuhaib were nabbed by the investigators from Tholambra under the Malur police station limits at 7 a.m. on February 18.

He said at a press meet convened by the Director General of Police (North Zone) that of the two arrested, Akash had been involved in 11 cases. The police had earlier initiated Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act proceedings against him, he said. The other arrested Rigil Raj had one previous case against him.

Mr. Vikram denied reports that he was not satisfied with the probe. Stating that the investigation worked extremely well, he said the team worked together on consensus. He denied that he had gone on leave on February 18 in protest. He said he had gone to his native place. He also denied that he had complained about the investigation team.
