Congress MLA N A Haris's son Mohammed Haris Nalapad who is accused of trashing a 24-year-old youth at a pub in Bengaluru surrendered before the Cubbon Park police on Monday morning.

The Cubbon Park police filed an FIR against him and his friends under sections of IPC 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation).

Vidwath, son of a businessman from Vasanthanagar was assaulted at Farzi Cafe in UB City around 10 pm on Saturday night where he had gone to have dinner with his friends.

Cubbon Park police said that Mohammed will be produced before the magistrate in the afternoon.

KPCC President G Parameshwara visited Mallya Hospital and spoke to Vidwath about his condition and to doctors about his treatment.

Following Nalapad’s surrender, many from the opposition BJP and JD(S) began protesting outside Cubbon Park police station. The protesters are calling for the police to take serious action against Nalapad.
