Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said, democracy is the BJP's core value which enables the party to take allies along successfully.

Charting the party's growth since its inception as Bhartiya Jana Sangh in 1951, he said, the BJP has never wavered from its founding ideals and is full of patriotism.

Mr Modi said this while inaugurating the new BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in New Delhi. He asserted that the BJP and its forerunner Jana Sangh had since Independence led all agitations held in the national interest.

He said, BJP's core values are steeped in democracy adding that the party is guided by a democratic spirit in its thinking, working and executing its agenda.

The Prime Minister said, multi-party system in India enriches the country's democracy and different views of various political parties make the bouquet of Indian democracy beautiful but a lot still needs to be done about the way they are constituted and function.

Talking about the new party office, Mr Modi said, the new building may be the workplace for the party but its area of work should be the country's boundaries and party workers should be its soul.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP President Amit Shah said, it is an important day for the party. He said, every member used to dream of BJP's own office, and now the dream has turned into a reality. Mr Shah said, it is one of the biggest headquarters of any political party in the world.

Senior party leaders LK Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi and Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Ravi Shankar Prasad were among others present on the occasion.

The new BJP headquarters has three buildings fitted with modern communication tools, enabling party office-bearers to co-ordinate official works with their counterparts in states and local levels in real time. The eco-friendly complex is WiFi-enabled with 70 rooms.

All buildings have facilities like conference halls, research rooms, digital library and studios for live telecast. Hollow bricks have been used and solar panels have been installed to provide power.
