New Zealand vs England, 6th T20I: New Zealand qualify for tri-series final despite losing by 2 runs

Martin Guptill scored his 14th half century in chase but failed to take his side to the victory. But New Zealand qualified for the tri-series final via higher net run rate.

Colin Munro and Martin Guptill came out to open the innings to chase 195 with the former hammering two sixes in the first over. Munro went on to hammer a total of 7 sixes in his innings, one of which went out of the park. He completed an 18-ball half century before he was dismissed by Adil Rashid for 57. Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill tried to settle down the innings but Rashid struck again to dismiss the New Zealand captain for 8. Guptill and Mark Chapman fired New Zealand over 100. Liam Dawson went for 18 runs in his second over which broke the shackles for the home side. Guptill went on to complete his 14th T20I fifty before he was dismissed by Dawid Malan for 62. Ross Taylor soon departed afterwards putting pressure on the home side. Mark Chapman and Colin de Grandhomme needed to score 12 runs in the final over but managed to score only 9, as New Zealand lost by 2 runs. But they still manage to go through to the final on the basis of a higher Net Run Rate.
