Petrol and diesel would soon be available on the 301 Km long Lucknow-Agra expressway as four fuel stations will be set up along the expressway between Lucknow and Agra.

The UP expressway industrial development authority (UPEIDA) has completed the process of technical and financial tender with the oil marketing companies.

A  UPEIDA spokesman said here on Saturday that against the reserve price of Rs One lakh for one fuel stations the bids received were far higher up to ten times more.  As per the agreement reached with the oil marketing companies after the tender the fuel stations will be set up in Karhal tehsil of Mainpuri district. Indian Oil Corporation will set up the fuel station at village Bareli kalan in Sefai tehsil of Etawah district while the Reliance Industries Limited will set up two stations at Billhaur tehsil of Kanpur nagar district and Safipur tehsil of Unnao district.

The Lucknow-Agra expressway, the flagship project of the previous Samajwadi party government was formally inaugurated in November 2016.  The Yogi Adityanath government has fixed toll rates for vehicles using the 302-km expressway, which even boasts a 3.3-km airstrip that Defence aircraft can use as a runway during emergency. The state government has imposed toll tax on the expressway from January 19. The toll will vary from vehicle to vehicle and will be applicable on vehicles travelling from both sides. The government notification imposing toll tax has spared dignitaries such as the President, Prime Minister, and Governor, Chief Minister, MPs, legislators, judges and Padma Award winners from paying toll tax.
