Big over for South Africa, Unadkat concedes three boundaries off his first over. Not the best of starts for the 11 crore man. South Africa get a much needed big over. They move onto 20/0 after 2 overs.

19:53(IST)

Smuts starts with a boundary off the first ball but Bhuvneshwar comes back well for India. Certainly bowling a lot fuller as compared to SA and mixing it up. SA 6/0 after the 1st over.

19:50(IST)

South Africa will need to get off to a big start here if they are to chase this one, JJ Smuts and Reeza Hendricks will start the proceedings for South Africa, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the ball for India as we start the chase.

So, Indian innings comes to an end. Terrific effort from India, they end at 203/5, which is also their highest total against South Africa. The pitch looks good but South Africa will need a special effort to chase this one.

19:27(IST)

Paterson concedes 8 runs from the 18th, South Africa will take that. Dhoni getting the boundary for India and you have to say he has to play the maximum remaining deliveries here for India. They are 183/4 after 18 overs.

19:23(IST)

Morris again concedes a boundary off the last ball, this time Dhoni slicing the last ball for a four. Class shot from a class batsman and its another big over for India, despite getting only 1 boundary. They pick up 11 runs and India are 175/4 after 17 overs.

19:18(IST)

Excellent over from Shamsi, he has been absolutely terrific today for the Proteas. Concedes just 7 runs in the 16th over, he ends with figures of 4-0-37-1, could have been more had Behradien picked that catch. India are 164/4 after 16 overs.

19:12(IST)

WICKET! Shikhar Dhawan departs, doing a tad too much and he looks to play the scoop. Its a slower ball from Phehlukwayo and Dhawan can't get any power on it. The ball just loops to keeper. Dhawan departs for 78. India are 156/4.

19:07(IST)

19:02(IST)

8 runs coming off that over from Phehlukwayo, the running between the wickets has certainly been the key for India in this partnership. India are 138/3 after 13 overs.

18:56(IST)

50! Shikhar Dhawan brings up his half-century, what an innings it has been from him. He has been under the radar throughout the ODI series thanks to Virat Kohli, but he has certainly started the better. India 128/3

Excellent over for South Africa, Shamsi concedes just 4 runs and picks up the important wicket of Virat Kohli. Halfway into the innings, and India are 110/3 after 10 overs.

18:47(IST)

WICKET! Virat Kohli departs and Shamsi strikes, a bit quicker through the air and some spin helps him beat Kohli's bat. It clatters onto the pad, Shamsi is convinced and umpire raises his finger. Kohli looks to review that one but sees all three reds. He departs for 26. India 108/3

18:44(IST)

A quiet over for India considering how things are going at the moment, just 8 runs from that one. India move onto 106/2 after 9 overs here

18:41(IST)

50 partnership is up between Dhawan and Kohli off just 27 balls. The pair have continued their ODI form and looked absolutely teriffic.100 is also up for India, they are 100/2 after 8.2 overs.

18:40(IST)

14 runs coming off that over for Shamsi, it could have been the otherway round had Behradien completed a simple catch. Instead, Kohli finds a boundary and then a maximum over long off. India 98/2 after 8 overs here.

18:38(IST)

DROPPED! Behradien has just dropped the biggest catch in World Cricket, Virat Kohli tries to go for a big one but holes out to Behradien at long on. He somehow misses what is absolute dolly. And as always happens, the next ball goes to the boundary.

18:36(IST)

Just when it seemed South Africa would have a good over, Shikhar Dhawan steals a boundary off the last ball. Chris Morris had conceded just 2 runs but he bowls the last one a bit wide, Dhawan latches onto it and hits a perfect square cut. India 84/2 after 7 overs.

18:31(IST)

SIX! Dala looks to bounce Shikhar Dhawan, but he picks that up from the waist and deposits it behind third man. Another big over for India, They also pick a couple of boundaries and take 18 runs from that over. Powerplay comes to an end and India are 78/1.

Live Cricket Score, India vs South Africa 1st T20I in Johannesburg: Bhuvneshwar Double Blow Hurts SA

PREVIEW IND vs SA: The three-Test series was a hard-fought affair that went the way of South Africa 2-1. Then came the series of six one-day internationals, and it was all about Virat Kohli and the Indian spin twins, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. South Africa were not at their strongest, with AB de Villiers missing the first three games, and Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock going out after the first and the second ODIs respectively. Even then, South Africa wouldn’t have anticipated a scoreline of 5-1 in India’s favour. Between them, Yadav and Chahal picked up 33 of the 53 South African wickets to fall. If that pegged the batsmen back, the South African bowlers were put to the sword by the Indian top-order batsmen. Shikhar Dhawan was good, with one century and two half-centuries, and Rohit Sharma took care of the fifth ODI with his 115 from the top of the order. But Kohli batted at another level altogether. Even as India lost the Test series, he topped the batting charts with 286 runs, and it was more of the same in the ODIs, as he hit 112, 46*, 160*, 75, 36 and 129* for an incredible 558 runs from six games at an average of 186, all at a strike rate of 99.46. All of those men are there for the T20Is too, and there’s no reason to believe they won’t give it their best shot to add the T20I trophy to the ODI one. They will back their chances too, because South Africa are again going to be without some of the men they would ideally want in their XIs: du Plessis and de Kock are still out, there’s no Hashim Amla or Kagiso Rabada around, and Imran Tahir has also been left out, while JP Duminy has been promoted as captain. Instead, the team has two players with no international experience in Junior Dala, a 28-year-old right-arm medium pacer, and Christiaan Jonker, a 31-year-old batsman. Also in the mix is Heinrich Klaasen, who became such a hero after playing the lead role in South Africa’s only win in the ODI series. Linda Zondi, the Cricket South Africa National Selection Panel Convener, explained that some of the changes were made keeping in mind South Africa’s upcoming Test series at home against Australia. In the short-term, that might affect South Africa’s chances, though with explosive batsmen like Duminy, David Miller and, of course, de Villiers around, India, who have brought back Suresh Raina after a long gap, have to be wary even if they look the stronger on paper.
Squads: India: Virat Kohli (captain) Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur.
South Africa: Jean-Paul Duminy (captain), Farhaan Behardien, Junior Dala, AB de Villiers, Reeza Hendricks, Christiaan Jonker, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), David Miller, Chris Morris, Dane Paterson, Aaron Phangiso, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Jon-Jon Smuts.
