BIHAR: Acid injected in man's eyes for eloping with employers wife

A furious mob in Bihar assaulted a man and injected acid in his eyes, leaving him blind.

The assault took place at an eatery in Pipra Chowk late night when a man, who is a driver by profession, was left critically injured, as reported by DSP B K Singh.

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED?

The man who was beaten mercilessly by the mob had allegedly eloped with his employers wife.

The victim on his statement told the police that he used to work as a tractor driver at Barauni village, Teghra and had a love affair with his employers wife.

On February 6, the man and his paramour eloped, following which the woman's husband lodged a complaint, accusing the man of kidnapping his wife, the DSP said.

However, the woman came back to Teghra on February 16 and recorded her statement in a local court. Her husband, a farmer, was asked to take her to his house.

The reason behind the woman returning to her village remains unknown.

It was only yesterday evening when the 30-year-old driver received a phone call from the woman's brother-in-law, who claimed that she wanted to live with the driver and that he should come to Teghra police station to take her back with him, the police official said.

The man was barely a kilometre away from the police station, when suddenly a group of 20 people surrounded him, who took him to the eatery and brutally assaulted him.

The DSP said that they also injected acid in his eyes with a syringe. They later left him near Hanuman Chowk, Bhagwanpur area of the district.

A passer-by saw the man in a critical condition and admitted him in a hospital at Begusarai.

The 30-year-old man became blind after the incident, doctors attending him at a hospital said.

One person has been arrested and the police is investigating the matter further.
