Bhopal: Overgrown branches of road side trees have been creating problems for traffic users specially at night in state capital. Central Electricity Distribution Co Ltd prunes these branches in the name of maintenance. But in the process, power supply gets disrupted. The tree branches even break the power supply lines.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration also trims branches. Free Press talked to a section of residents who face problems due to hanging tree branches. Excerpts
Anil Parmar: Such hanging branches are very dangerous particularly at night. People have to ply vehicles in middle of roads instead of road sides. BMC should take it seriously and send the teams to chop off such trees.
Bhimrao Patil: BMC administration is expected to chop off such hanging branches before any major road accident may happen. Bikers, scooty riders may hit against them.
Gajadhar Rathore: I had a narrow escape last night when I was riding scooty. Road side trees have become dangerous. BMC should launch drive on regular basis in this regard.
O N Jha: It is drawback on part of BMC administration, which remains busy in useless work while ignoring basic problems of the people. BMC should concentrate on main job.
Sushil Kumar: Thorny plants like berry or bougainvillea are very dangerous. Coporators are supposed to take initiatives for road side plants or even in colonies.
Deputy municipal commissioner Harish Gupta: BMC prunes tree branches from time to time. It is spring season, so naturally, tree branches are hanging. We are on job.
