China’s tourism revenue rose on the first day of Lunar Chinese New Year.
The National Tourism Administration said on Friday that China’s tourism revenue surged on the first day of lunar Chinese New Year.
The revenue was 9.7 percent up from last year reaching 83.4 billion yuan (13 billion U.S. dollars) on Friday.
The number of tourists was up 9.4 percent year on year with 71 million across the country.
The most popular were snow-themed tourism, folk customs and hot springs.
According to the China Railway Corporation there were around 4 million trips to be made on Friday.
