Baroda and Karnataka stormed their way into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, after registering victories in their respective matches here on Friday.
Baroda thump Assam by 279 runs- Riding on opener Aditya Waghmode’s scintillating 148-run knock, decorated by 17 fours and four sixes, Baroda went on to put a massive 378 runs on board in the given 50 overs. Apart from Waghmode, Kedar Devdhar and Deepak Hooda contributed with 61 and 41 runs, respectively.
In reply, Assam succumbed before Baroda’s impressive bowling attack at a paltry 99 runs in 30 overs. Parvez Aziz showed some resistance with a 50-run innings for Assam.
It was Baroda’s fifth win from six games, which topped the group A list with 20 points, to enter the quarters.
