Mumbai: Andheri police arrest 32-year-old man for raping polio-affected girl

Mumbai: Andheri police have arrested a 32-year-old man on Friday evening for allegedly raping a minor girl, who is affected by polio. The accused and 12-year-old survivor live in the same neighbourhood and are known to each other.

The police said, “The victim lives with her parents and siblings on a rented accommodation in a chawl. She was raped when her parents were out for work and brother was given Rs. 100 by the accused to buy him a bottle of liquor.”

The accused entered her house on Thursday evening when her parents were out for work. Smartly he gave Rs. 100 to survivor’s brother to buy him a bottle of liquor. Taking advantage of the time, the accused slept next to her on the bed. When the survivor objected, the accused threatened her to throw out of her house. The survivor shouted at him but he put his hand over her mouth and raped her. By the time her brother returned home with a bottle of liquor, the accused had fled from from the spot.
