Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are due for an official launch later this month at MWC, but one lucky Redditor may have got early access to the device and he has revealed some details about the device on Reddit. He mentioned that he played around with the smartphone for about 20 minutes. He confirmed that the fingerprints scanner is now “slightly better placed”, but it is still small and users may accidentally touch the camera sensor instead. The other big feature he talked about during the Reddit session was the sound quality, which he said has seen “a major improvement” over the Samsung Galaxy S8. The phone uses the earpiece speaker in conjunction with the bottom speaker to give you stereo sound. The phone may also retain the headphone jack.
As for the design, there are very little differences between the current gen and upcoming phones. The phone may have a matte finish instead of a glossy one. He also suggested that Samsung will continue to provide the upcoming phones with a dedicated Bixby button. The Redditor claimed that the camera on the phone can shoot videos in 4K resolution at 60fps and it can do slow motion videos at 720p 480p and 1080p 240p. This means that previous rumors of the phone capable of doing 1000fps slow motion is not true and Sony remains the king with its 960fps slow motion. However, it is to be noted that the Redditor was using a US variant of the device powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and not the Exynos 9810 chip.
Samsung may also introduce 3D emoji with these devices, which is one of the newest features on the iPhone X. However, the Redditor says that the feature is "not a direct ripoff of animoji, more like a mix between animoji and bitmoji. You create an avatar, and can control its facial features, similar to an animoji. IMO it looks less polished than "Apple's version."
All this should be taken with a grain of salt as most of the information revealed by this unknown Redditor has seems to be based on top of various rumors and leaks about the two devices we have seen in recent times.
