Former Pakistan Test cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq has been roped in by defending champions Peshawar Zalmi as their spin bowling consultant for the upcoming third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Confirming the news, Peshawar Zalmi said that team's head coach Mohammad Akram would get the support of legendary off-spinner Mushtaq in the dugout as a spin bowling consultant.
Mushtaq, the inventor of the 'doosra', is due to join the Zalmi squad in Dubai on Sunday.
Though the 41-year-old previously had coaching stints with the England cricket team, he had never been appointed by Pakistan.
The third edition of PSL, which begins on February 22, will see two of its playoffs in Lahore, while the final is slated to be played at Karachi's National Stadium on March 25.
In the opening match, defending champions Peshawar Zalmi will square off with newcomers - the Multan Sultans.
