THANE: School students from Thane have given an enthusiastic response to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s initiative ‘Parikshe Pe Charcha’ started for those appearing for board exams.

Thousands of students from the secondary section across schools in Thane listened to the PM in rapt attention as he gave tips on how to combat stress during examination.

Shilpa Jejurekar, principal of Arunodaya Public School, said, “At noon, around 600 students from our school were made to listen to the speech. Some were asked to assemble in the hall whereas the other class students were told to sit in their respective classes. The live telecast was shown with the help of a projector screen connected to a computer so that all class students could avail of this unique opportunity. Many questions that were asked during the session helped our students too as they had similar doubts about the upcoming exam and the stress it brings. I found the speech particularly useful for Class IX and XI students as well as they start getting stressed about their following year’s exams due to parental pressure. The focus on yoga and meditation to increase concentration and improve one’s memory was a good advice that could be helpful to students in the long run.”

While some schools organised projectors in their auditoriums, others recorded the speech that was aired on All India Radio for the future batch of students.

A Class X student from Thane said, “The programme has given me the push to organise my study material and plan a timetable, as my friends and I had a discussion on this topic after the session. I will also try yoga and meditation to calm myself whenever I feel worked up.”
