Swati Maliwal, Chief DCW said, “We begun inspection from February 10. Along with DUSIB, we visited nine toilets on the first two days of inspection. When we went to a public toilet in Timarpur we found two men selling liquor from the toilet. All the cartons were kept in the room of caretaker.”

Adding further, DCW Chief stated that the caretaker was missing from the place and both the men were caught from the spot. “We informed local police about the discoveries and they immediately arrested the accused,” said Maliwal.

Requesting anonymity, a senior police officer said, “We have registered case under relevant section and searching the caretaker as he is absconding. Since these revelations we have directed our beat staff to keep a check on such public toilets and track the activities happening there.”

According to Swati Maliwal, Chief Minister has asked DUSIB to submit reports everyday of the visit which DUSIB CEO has been asked to personally present.

On Wednesday's visit, 4 out of 5 toilets were found dirty. Few were not opening at night and show causes were issued. Few were not opened at night and show cause notices were issued. DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said that, “I strongly appreciate the step taken by CM. The surprise inspection is having a tremendous impact and many toilets are being cleaned overnight in the Capital.

This exercise should be repeated regularly to keep the system at its toes. Proper sanitation and safety in toilets is a non negotiable.
