Teams in the army are supposed to work as a cohesive unit, but what happens when different viewpoints develop within the same team? This is exactly what Aiyaary dares to explore. The two compelling forces represent the constant tussle between conventional and modernistic viewpoints. The movie also explores the dynamic relationship between a mentor and his protégé. It’s interesting to watch the developments when the protégé appears to be smarter than the mentor. However, the turn of events may change everything towards the end.

Aiyaary is the story of Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) and his protégé Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra). While Abhay is the quintessential honest and loyal army officer, Jai is more of the flamboyant types. The two share a good camaraderie initially, but things take an ugly turn when Jai goes rogue. As Jai becomes a liability, it’s up to Abhay to trace him down. However, it won’t be easy since Jai appears to be a lot smarter than the team and remains a step ahead in the game. Will Abhay be able to track down Jai and secure the interests of the country?

Aiyaary is about strong characters, which is no surprise since Director Neeraj Pandey is known for his flair for creating strong characters that appeal to the audience. With hits like A Wednesday, Special 26 and Baby, Neeraj has yet again shown his maverick with Aiyaary. Manoj Bajpayee has delivered a captivating performance in his role of a steadfast army officer. Sidharth Malhotra also shows his mature skills in representing a smart and intelligent recruit, who has ideas of his own and does not believe in following the same old rules of the game.

If you like thrillers, Aiyaary could be on your watch list. And yes, there’s an interesting twist towards the end that will surprise you.
