Kerala kept their hopes alive for a quarterfinal berth as they thrashed Uttar Pradesh by 120 runs in a Group B encounter of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy here on Thursday.
Put into bat, Kerala was able to put a decent total of 261 runs in 50 overs, thanks to half-centuries by Rohan Prem (66) and Arun Karthik (54). Later, they bundled out UP at 141 runs in 39.2 overs.
This was Kerala’s second consecutive win in the group and stand are at the second spot in standings with 14 points while UP is at the fifth place.In an another game, Prashant Chopra’s scintillating 150-run knock followed by Rishi Dhawan’s 3/38 helped Himachal Pradeh pip Delhi by two runs in group B clash.
Batting first, Himachal put a mammoth 304 runs on board in the allotted 50 overs, and later restricted Delhi at 302 runs in 49.4 overs. Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant’s fighting 135-run knock however, went in vain.
This was Himachal’s third win in the tourney, and is seated at the fourth place with 14 points, while Delhi are the table toppers with 16 points.
