Archna Chitnis short stay at Vidisha

Minister in Government of Madhya Pradesh Archna Chitins when passed through Vidisha stayed at circuit house for a short while. During this period when asked about the supply of mid-day meals are again going into the hands of Thekedars, she said “we are planning, this information is in air only. Nothing is clear at present.

But on the other side E-Tender have been issued for 107 aganvadi and total work has been given to two self help group instead of many small self help groups .

Anganwadi centers are the courtyard shelter responsible for ensuring the food and nutrition for mothers and children. Rules of feeding and care are – In 0-6 months breast feeding caring mother.

Children in the age group of 6 months to 3 years – Food supplement of 500 calories of energy and 12-15 gms. of Protein per child per day as Take Home Ration (THR) in the form of Micronutrient Fortified Food and/or energy-dense food marked as ‘ICDS Food Supplement’.

Children in the age group of 3-6 years: Food supplement of 500 calories of energy and 12-15 gms of Protein per child per day. Since a child of this age group is not capable of consuming of meal of 500 calories in one sitting, the guidelines prescribed provision of morning snack in the form of milk/banana/seasonal fruits/Micronutrient Fortified Food etc. and a Hot Cooked Meal.

Severely underweight children: Food supplement of 800 calories of energy and 20-25 gms of Protein per child per day in the form of Micronutrient fortified and/or energy dense food as Take Home Ration.

Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers: Food supplement of 600 calories of energy and 18-20 gms of Protein per day in the form of Micronutrient Fortified Food and/or energy dense food as Take Home Ration.

Nothing goes according to rules . 1- Quality of food is bad. 2- It said that Roti are made by machine so not equally baked. 3- Meal are not supplied on time. 4- Sufficient meal is not supplied. 5- Sometimes menu also differs Jila Panchayat CEO Dipak Arya said on telephone – “ Quality is maintained when given to big self help group instead of giving to small help groups. Quality can be judged easily by seeing one or two aganvadi if groups are less”.
