Dr. Liya Mutale, the Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary, has recently challenged Zambians to head and become the first tourists of their own country before overseas tourists start pouring in.
Dr. Mutale explains there is no requirement for Zambians to be grateful for and visit various tourist attractions that the country has by highlighting that is the only way the tourism sites of the country will deal to the world outside.
While talking to ZANIS in a recent interview, Dr. Mutale evaluated that the Ministry of Tourism and Arts main aim is the tourism sector and its domestic visitors who she explained if they visited their important tourism sites, it would be trouble-free for Zambia to draw international tourists.
She explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Arts is part of the decentralization process of the Governments and to make sure that the tourism sector is given main importance, the Ministry will create offices in districts to be responsible for tourism problems.
Dr. Mutale highlighted that Luapula Province has the possibility for tourism particularly that the province has good political spirit which can be utilized to propel the tourism agenda of the province and move development in the province.
And Group European Development Africa (GED) Zambia Country Manager Marcus Ascott, assessed that GED Africa has initiated a Private Public Partnership project in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo to build a 200 Kilometers Road that will connect Katanga Province and Luapula Province together.
