FALL RIVER — The morning after a social media post made a threat that Durfee would become "Florida pt 2" police said they are investigating the source of the post.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Friday police issued a release related to the post.

"The investigation is ongoing as it relates to the source of the circulated threat on SnapChat," police said in a statement. They offered no further details into the investigation, stating they cannot be currently released.

"The Fall River Police Department encourages all individuals that if you 'see something say something.' All threats will be considered serious and investigated diligently. The safety and security of the children within our community is paramount and we ask for the community's assistance in ensuring we continue to foster this safe and secure environment," police stated.

Police said they received several reports of a threatening message being circulated via SnapChat. They said the message appeared to be posted to an anonymous account.

 

"The Fall River Police Department takes any threat to our community and especially the safety of our students with the utmost concern. Due to the threat, increased security measures were taken by the Fall River Police to ensure the safety of our students at B.M.C. Durfee High School as well as all other campuses within our school district," they stated.
