Focus on recruitment of more policemen

The government has allocated Rs 6,647 crore to the Home Department in the budget.

A permanent Police Services Recruitment Board will be set up to increase the recruitment of police personnel. The government wants to bring in a new policy for the state's athletes who have extraordinary achievements in field of national/international level sports to be recruited directly to the department.

With an expenditure of Rs 50 crore, the training capacity will be enhanced in the next two years from 3,200 to 5,000. Facilities and capacity to impart training will also be enhanced in the existing police training schools in the next two years.

Nirbhaya centres

Besides recruitment, the representation of women in police department will be enhanced by 25% in the next five years with 'Nirbhaya Kendras' which will be established in all police commissioners' offices across the state.

All-women police stations in the district headquarters will be upgraded as one-stop service centres.

Skill training in prisons

In order to provide skilled training in various professions to prisoners for their rehabilitation, Karnataka Prison Development Board will be established. Besides, a video linking system will be provided to all district prisons and courts for speedy disposal of pending trials.

Extension of fire safety services

Fire safety services will be extended to 174 taluks out of the total 176 taluks in the state under the KSAFE-1 scheme. The fire safety services will be improved and disaster and emergency management system will be upgraded in the existing taluks. New fire stations will be established under KSAFE-2 in the newly formed 50 taluks in the next five years.
