Indian Arrows once again showed that they not come to the park for a party as they managed to hold Aizawl FC 2-2 in the I – league match played at Tilak maidan, Vasco on Friday.
Aizawl playing under new coach Santosh kashyap will rue syrrendering the lead to the Indian colts on two occasions.
Aizawl F C scored in the 40th minute of play through Afghani Masih Saighani while the second was netted by hardworking Ivory Coast striker Zikahi Leonce Dodoz in the 54th minute.
Indian Arrows first levelled the score through through Edmund Laldrindika in the 48th minute and medio Amarjit Singh Kiyam in the 88th minute through a spot kick.
With this drawn encounter, Aizawl F C have collected eighteen from fourteen matches ,while Indian Arrows stay on fifteen points from fifteen matches.
Both teams started the match on an attacking note with Indian Arrows medio Nongdamba Naorem firing the first salvo from well outside the box in the very first minute of play,but the Aizawl F C keeper Avilash Paul swallowed the power packed effort with ease.
Aizawl F C retaliated in the next minute which saw Romanian import ,playing in the midfield position sending a perfect cross to Zikahi Leonce Dodoz,the dashing forward from Ivory Coast whose header was saved by India Arrows keeper Prabhsukhan Singh.
As Zikahi appeared to be the most lethal player in Aizawl’s armoury ,the Indian Arrows defense began to keep a hawk’s eye on him for the remainder of the first session of play–giving him very little room to maneuver .
Though the first session was largely controlled by Aizawl F C , Indian Arrows tried to threaten the rival defense through a free kick which defender Sanjeev Stalin curled inside the box, but the move was killed quite easily .
he first half spell proceedings which appeared to be rather drab, enlived in the 40th minute of play when Aizawl F C shot into the lead through an angular left footer from defender Masih Saighani .
It was Romanian medio Andrei Ionescu , who did a fine run down the left flank and paved the way for this goal as his cross was smartly met with a left footed knee high shot by Masih who gave no chance at all to Indian Arrows keeper Prabhsukhan , as it crashed to the far end of the nets.
The second session began with a bang for Indian Arrows when they leveled the score within three minutes after resumption.
Defender Asish Rai , who did a great amount of overlapping ,ran down the left flank and crossed the ball to medio Edmund Lalrindika whose right footer low shot had no answer from Aizwl keeper Avilash.
The smiles from the face of Indian Arrows players were erased quite quickly when Aizawl once again went up with a great goal from Zikahi who smartly chipped the ball inside the Indian Arrows nets after medio Albert Zohmingmawia sent a measured cross to him.
Indian Arrows did give some anxious moments to the Aizawl F C team after coming up with some pressing forays but all their attempts could not bear fruits due to good defending by the visiting team from Aizawl.
Five minutes from end, Indian Arrows keeper Prabhsukhan brought out a brilliant save from Zikahi in an one-on –one situation ,denying the striker from Ivory Coast from scoring his brace. Indian Arrows leveled the score when Rahul Kannooly Balan was brought down Aizawl’s defender Clalrosanga into the box, resulting in the spot kick which was coolly converted by captain Amajit Singh Kityam.
