MANILA, Philippines — Streaking Akari-Adamson hit clutch free throws to fend off Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare, 92-85, and join idle Zark’s Lyceum at the helm in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena yesterday.
Sean Manganti and Papi Sarr delivered from the line in the final 43.2 as the Falcons survived the rallying Coffee Lovers to roll to their third straight victory and fourth overall against a loss in a tie with Zark’s Burgers-Lyceum.
“Right now, I’m still struggling to find the right combination. As you can see, I use all my players on the bench because we are here to develop our players,” said Akari-AdU coach Franz Pumaren who drew 18 points from Jerrick Ahanmisi, 16 from Sarr, 13 from Manganti, 11 from Jerie Pingoy and 10 from Jonathan Espeleta.
In the other game, Che’Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian drained in nine triples as it repulsed Jose Rizal University, 74-67, to snap a two-game skid for a 3-3 card.
Allyn Bulanadi bounced back from a four-point showing the last time out, hitting six triples en route to a 26-point effort, Jeepy Faundo had 13 markers while Mike Calisaan checked a previous scoreless outing to fire nine points for the Revellers.
