You expect someone who barely knows you to simply accept you, get comfortable around you and start telling you about her life because you think that's how it should work? Give her as much time as she needs, and enough space to allow her to come to terms with this arrangement before expecting her to start opening up to you. Empathy is a good thing to have, so work on that.
I can't make up my mind about whether I really like my girlfriend or whether I'm with her simply because it's nice to have a girlfriend. I know this makes me sound like an awful person, but when she tells me that she loves me, I don't feel the same way and I have to lie and tell her that I love her too. We have been together for almost a year now, so I don't even know if I'm with her simply because it's convenient and I'm used to having her around. Is there anything I can do to change the way I feel about her, or should I simply end this relationship until I can figure things out?
People in a relationship don't necessarily share the same feelings about each other. It's okay to be confused about how you feel, but not okay to be with someone simply because you find it convenient. If you need time to sort out how you feel about her, you should be honest enough to ask for it, instead of pretending to be someone you are not. This is unfair not just to your girlfriend but to you as well. I suggest you take time off and evaluate what she means to you. Staying away may help you appreciate her presence a lot more.
