In Peru, five detainees at a juvenile centre in the city of Trujillo were killed after a blaze broke out in the facility during a revolt.

Police said, some detainees had set fire to mattresses in one part of the centre and as a result, the blaze started. Thirty detainees were hurt and were taken to the hospital.

It was not immediately known how many young offenders were in the Juvenile Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Centre in Trujillo, which is located some 500 kilometres north of capital Lima.
