Gang also threatens two of his colleagues, escapes with loot

An unidentified gang attacked a TASMAC salesman with iron rods and robbed him of ₹1.56 lakh on Dindigul-Batlagundu Bypass near here on Wednesday night.

The injured, A. Sangili (39) of Aranmanaikulam in Dindigul, was working at a TASMAC shop at Seethamaram Four-Road Junction near Dindigul. He was deputed to a TASMAC shop at Kamu Pillai Chatram near Sempatti on Wednesday.

Mr. Sangili and two other TASMAC workers – Kumaresan and Palanisamy – were returning home on two two-wheelers from Sempatti after closing the shop at 10 p.m. While Mr. Sangili was riding a motorcycle, the other two were riding another two-wheeler and following him.

The gang attacked Mr. Sangili with iron rods on Dindigul-Batlagundu Bypass, and as a result of the sudden attack he fell into a roadside gorge. The gang snatched the cash from him.

The gang members also threatened other two TASMAC workers, who were coming behind Mr. Sangili, before fleeing from the spot.

Mr. Sangili was rushed to Dindigul Government Hospital for treatment. Dindigul Taluk police have registered a case. A special team has been constituted to nab the accused.
