Ten years before Sanjay Leela Bhansali made the highly controversial film, Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ashutosh Gowariker had made an equally contentious period drama titled Jodhaa Akbar, that starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. The historical drama presented the love story of Mughal Emperor Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar and the Rajput Princess Jodhaa Bai. The film that had created a lot of noise back in the day, has completed a decade already since its release and to commemorate the special occasion, Senior film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, shared an unreleased poster of the film.
He captioned it, “10 years of #JodhaaAkbar… Sharing an unreleased poster of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Hrithik-Aishwarya starrer…#10YearsOfJodhaaAkbar.” The still has the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the handsome Hrithik Roshan in a passionate embrace. We suppose it’s been taken from the song, “Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai,” which is a romantic song from the film. Produced and directed by Gowariker, the film won several awards in 2008. It also won the Audience Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the São Paulo International Film Festival, two awards at the Golden Minbar International Film Festival, seven Star Screen Awards and five Filmfare Awards, in addition to two nominations at the 3rd Asian Film Awards. Meanwhile, take a look at the poster below :
The period romantic drama also starred Sonu Sood, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Ila Arun in pivotal roles. The music of the film, significant of which were the songs titled ‘Kehne Ko Jashna Bahara Hai’, ‘Khwaaja Mere Khwaaja’, composed by maestro AR Rahman were soulful that made the film an instant hit among the masses. Coincidentally speaking, today ie February 15, also happens to be Gowariker’s birthday–the same day his period drama hit the theatres ten years ago. Well, here’s wishing the director a very Happy Birthday!
