MANILA, Philippines — Three out of five Filipinos would rather succeed on their careers than on love life, a recent Social Weather Stations survey reveals.
Whatever you choose, multimedia personality Kris Aquino shares the lessons she learned from life, love and career as she turned 47 years old on Valentine’s Day.
“If you look at the Philippines’ billionaires’ list, I represent 60 percent of that Forbes’ list, one or another of their companies,” shared Kris, who is among the country’s top celebrity endorsers.
According to her, most of what she knows about life came from her mom, former Philippine President Corazon Aquino. Here are some of them.
1. 'Wag umutang'
“Everything I own are hard-earned because my career is based on the goodwill of people – one wrong move and you're gone,” she said.
“My sisters keep on telling me I don’t need to work because I can live on my income but I feel like I still have to prove something.”
2. Everything is temporary.
May it be in love life or career, Kris said everything is influx, so she advised to always keep one’s feet on the ground.
3. Your children should always come first.
“It’s really hard to balance if you're a big success and you're a single parent,” Kris admitted.
4. Be good to the people who work with you and for you.
“Treat your people well so there will be loyalty,” advised Kris. “Give respect because it's a relationship built on trust.”
5. Prayer power
“My mom taught me the power of prayer. There are times na gusto ko na talaga sumuko, but I feel like I still have to prove something, so I never stop praying,” Aquino enthused.
6. Choose your battles wisely.
7. Share your blessings and thank God all the time.
