Windows 10 Pro Workstations get the new Ultimate Performance Power Plan

Microsoft has always been serious about their Business users and making sure their workstations run up, and at top performance, Microsoft has rolled out two more features for PCs demanding mission-critical scenarios. This will be rolled out with the next major update of Windows 10. As of now its available for Insiders.

Ultimate Performance Power Scheme

Microsoft has figured out a collection of settings which allow the OS to quickly use the behavior based on user preference, policy, underlying hardware or workload. This new policy builds use that and improves further by eliminating eliminate micro-latencies associated with fine-grained power management techniques. This plan has to be selected by the OEM on new systems or selectable by a user. It is available under Control Panel and > Power Options.

The Ultimate Performance Power plan is selectable either by an OEM on new systems or selectable by a user. To do so, you can go to Control Panel and navigate to Power Options under Hardware and Sound (you can also “run” Powercfg.cpl).

That said, its a tradeoff. If you run a horse extra, you need to feed him. This mode will consume more power than the default balanced plan. This is why the mode is not available for Laptops.

While this is going to be available for all PCs ultimately. This is going to make a huge difference for Windows 10 Gamers, and Business consumers. They need more performance, and since most of them are connected directly to power, it’s only going to help. I am guessing Microsoft will integrate this with the game mode in future.
