KANNUR: Police have submitted the FIR in Shuhaib (29) murder case, stating that political rivalry was behind the murder.  More than 30 persons have been questioned in connection with murder of Youth Congress Mattannur Block Secretary and Edayannur School Pramabathu house resident.

There are also hints that one person had been taken into custody in this connection. Unconfirmed report said that he is a CITU worker.

Though witnesses said that Shuhaib was attacked by a four –member gang that arrived in a Wagon R car, police have not been able to trace them. Inquiry is being carried out based on phone calls though.

Meanwhile, the Congress alleged that the police have been trying to protect the culprits.

The case is being investigated by a team under Mattannur CI. Another special team under the district police chief is also conducting a parallel inquiry.

The Congress alleged that CPM district leadership has been trying to create dominance of the party by employing criminals in party as quotation gangs to execute crimes.
