Jammu, Feb 15 (IANS) An attempt by militants to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan was foiled by the Indian Army on Thursday, military sources said.
Soldiers noticed suspicious movements in Balakote area of the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district early in the day.
"The troops fired and the intruding terrorists were forced to withdraw back into the Pakistani side. A search operation is on in the area," an official said.
The Pakistani Army on Wednesday violated the 2003 ceasefire in Nowshera sector of LoC in Rajouri district.
At around 7 p.m., the Pakistan Army used small arms, automatics and mortars, forcing the Indian side to retaliate "effectively and strongly", the official added.
