KANNUR: There is a criticism that the police is afraid of someone in connection with the murder of the Youth Congress leader Shuhaib in Edayannur. The criticism is based on the fact that the police officers are not willing to give clear answers to the questions about the progress of the investigation.
Statements of about 30 people have been recorded until now in connection with the case. It is also said that the motive behind the murder is political vengeance. Besides, there is an unconfirmed report that a CITU member is in custody in connection with the murder and that he is being questioned.
The information from the eye witnesses have revealed that it was a four-member gang wearing masks, who came in a white car that committed the murder. But the police have not collected any information about the car as of now.
It is also being criticised that the police is not showing the same enthusiasm in Shuhaib’s case as they showed in ABVP member Shyamaprasad’s murder. The approach by the police only reinforces the criticism that they are acting as per the instructions given to them by someone.
The police officers are not even willing to comment on the reports that there are more than one person in their custody in connection with the case. The fact that the police have not even conducted a vehicle inspection to find out the car which the assailants have supposedly used has also given raise to criticisms.
