Four unidentified men allegedly barged into the house of a businessman in south Delhi’s Garhi, located near East of Kailash, in the early hours of Sunday and decamped with jewellery, cash and other valuables worth nearly ₹1 crore, the police said on Wednesday.
A case of burglary has been registered at Amar Colony police station, they said. Victim Manish Sachdeva runs a toy shop at INA Market.
There was no breakthrough in the case till Wednesday evening despite the suspects’ entry and exit being captured on CCTV cameras installed at both Mr. Sachdeva’s home as well as his neighbour’s residence.
Police complaint
In his complaint, Mr. Sachdeva told the police that he had gone to watch a movie in Noida with his family at night on February 10 and that the house was locked from outside.
The family left home around 10 p.m. and returned at 2.30 a.m. Mr. Sachdeva said the main door’s lock was broken and the house ransacked.
The businessman added that diamond and gold jewellery, cash and other valuables kept in two almirahs were found missing.
Neighbours locked in
The police said the burglars had bolted shut the main doors of his three neighbours before entering Mr. Sachdeva’s home.
A senior police officer said they are rounding up several criminals involved in similar crimes in the past for clues.
They have also obtained CCTV footage showing the accused entering and exiting the businessman’s house.
