Study: Eating 'Ultra-Processed' Foods Like Chicken Nuggets 'Linked To Cancer'
Eating “ultra-processed” foods like chicken nuggets, soda and even cake may increase your risk of various forms of cancer. ????A study published in the British Medical Journal shows that based off the eating habits of 100,000 adults, a 10% increase in highly processed foods in someone's diet was linked to a 12% increase in cancer. ????Researchers warned, "If confirmed in other populations and settings, these results suggest that the rapidly increasing consumption of ultra-processed foods may drive an increasing burden of cancer in the next decades."????But the study is far from conclusive, with Cancer Research U.K.’s prevention expert, Linda Bauld telling CNBC, "People shouldn't worry about eating a bit of processed food here and there based on this study.” ????She went on to say that a balanced diet, avoiding junk food and keeping a healthy weight will all help to “stack the odds in our favor.”????Interestingly, those in the study who ate ultra-processed foods were also more likely to smoke and be less active. ??
