Colleges on East Coast Road on the outskirts of Chennai, Trichy, Perambalur and other places are being raided. The operation has been planned following an information that the group indulged in tax evasion, sources said.



"Outcome of the raids will be known only at the end of the operation, which is expected to go on till the end of the day. If needed, the raids will be continued tomorrow too," added sources.

Founded by A Srinivasan, the group runs medical, engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, arts & science, polytechnic, nursing and education colleges, besides schools and other business entities.

Headquartered in Perambalur, the group has operations in various parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai and Trichy. It is learnt that income tax departments sleuths were divided into multiple teams to raid places linked to the group simultaneously.
