Padmaavat worldwide box office collection day 21: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film rakes in Rs 520 crore

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has set new benchmarks at the worldwide box office. The costume drama continues its dominance at the ticket window, despite new Hollywood and Bollywood releases. Till now, the magnum opus has grossed Rs 345 crore (nett Rs 265.25 crore) in India and Rs 175 crore in the international markets. Padmaavat currently stands with the total collections of Rs 520 crore.

Padmaavat has become the ninth Indian film to achieve the Rs 500 crore mark at the worldwide box office after Dangal, Baahubali 2, Secret Superstar, PK, Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Tiger Zinda Hai and Sultan. The film is based on an epic poem written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi named Padmaavat. Featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, the magnum opus has received rave reviews across the globe for its direction and star performances, the audience also praised the cinematography of Sudeep Chatterjee in the film. Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Anupriya Goenka, Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in key roles. The film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions and Viacom 18. Coming to the domestic market, the film is expected to cross the Rs 275 crore mark by its fourth week. Since Aiyaary is hitting the screens tomorrow, Padmaavat will lose good chunk of screens and will be played in very limited theaters.
