Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) P Shivashankara on Thursday warned of legal action against the officials if they failed to utilise the funds earmarked under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCP) and Scheduled Tribes Sub-Plan (TSP).
Speaking at the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) progress review meeting, chaired by ZP president Nayeema Sultana at ZP Auditorium, here, the CEO said,
"The funds earmarked should be utilised on the projects before February and should not get lapsed. The government has released Rs 180 crore under SCP and Rs 164.43 crore under TSP for the district Social Welfare Department."
Nayeema Sulthana directed the officials to resolve the drinking water problems at N Begur and other villages. Though the multi-village drinking projects have been commissioned, eight hamlets and a few villages are not getting sufficient water. She asked the CEO to visit the areas and resolve the issue.
An officer said that another 10 multi-village drinking projects have been sanctioned under SCP and TSP for the district. The government also sanctioned 50 drinking water units at Cooperative Associations and 31 have been commissioned and remaining will be opened within 15 days.
Irregularities in fodder
ZP social justice sub-committee chairman Beerihundi Basavanna expressed his disappointment against Deputy Commissioner D Randeep for not providing a satisfactory reply to the alleged irregularities in fodder supply. Basavanna pointed out that during the previous meeting, the ZP had written to the DC, seeking clarifications over the alleged irregularities in the transpotation of fodder. The DC had replied that the fodder was supplied as per the guidelines.
Basavanna complained that the reply was not satisfactory. Though council had urged the DC to be present in the meeting, he did not attend.
He asked the CEO to send another communication to the DC, in this regard.
According to sources, the DC was in Bengaluru to attend training programme related to general elections.
