National team chess tourney held at KIIT

The 36th National Team Chess Championship 2018 and the 16th National Women Team Chess Championship 2018 were conducted jointly by the KIIT University and the All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) here on Wednesday.

AOCA president Sekhar Chandra Sahu, secretary KK Sarma, VP Ranjan Mohanty, The Hindu deputy editor Rakesh Rao and KIIT Sports director Dr Gaganendu Dash attended as guests and distributed the prizes to the winners.

The AOCA thanked the KIIT and its founder, Dr Achyuta Samanta for continuous support for promotion of Chess in Odisha.  Among the Odisha teams, Odisha- A and KIIT team have ranked 8th and 9th respectively in open category. While in women category, Odisha MCf-5 and KIIT have ranked in 7th and 9th respectively.
