KANNUR: Congress leader K Sudhakaran has alleged that some officers played accomplice to kill Youth Congress leader Shuhaib, who was hacked to death in Mattannur, in jail. He added that Shuhaib,who was in sub jail, was transferred to special sub jail by violating rules.

He said that Shuhaib could be saved then because of the intervention by the jail DGP Sreelekha. Sudhakaran also said that the police had ignored the report that said there is death threat on Shuhaib.

“I informed Sreelekha about Shuhaib being transferred to special sub jail by violating rules. The jail DGP immediately called up the jail authorities and talked to them and rebuked them. The CPM would have killed Shuhaib that day itself had not Sreelekha intervened,” he said.

He also said that the police did nothing to save Shuhaib’s life. They showed complete ignorance with regards to the death threat on Shuhaib, he said.

Sudhakaran added that it’s the BJP and the CPM who are carrying out violence in the state and that the Congress neither take weapons nor encourage anyone to take weapon for violence.
