Rusal appoints Mr Andrey Donets as head of downstream division
UC RUSAL a leading global aluminium producer, announced that creation of a new Downstream Division in the company's organizational structure. Andrey Donets has been appointed Head of the new division, whose main tasks will include developing value added production and bringing this business of the company to a whole new level.
The Downstream Division includes the foil, packaging, and wheels production facilities of the company.
Mr Vladislav Soloviev, CEO of RUSAL, commented that “The strategy that RUSAL is implementing to increase the share of value added products in total output and the progress we have made so far require that we look for new points of growth. Strengthening our management team with such a professional as Andrey Donets with his experience in the industry will allow the company to boost its positions in the downstream market both in Russia and abroad.”
Andrey Donets has extensive experience in metal production. In the past 10 years, he has headed up various business units at Alcoa.
In 2008, he was appointed president of Alcoa Russia. In that position he was in charge of all Alcoa operations in Russia. In 2011, Andrey Donets was appointed president of the global packaging products group at Alcoa, and in 2015, he became vice-president of the business unit of Alcoa in charge of healthcare.
Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr Donets had been CEO of Rexam Russia, and headed up ROSTAR. In 1998, he was appointed Head of Marketing and Sales, and in 2000, he became CFO at the ROSTAR facility. In 2004, he was made deputy CEO of RUSAL for the packaging business and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUSAL Dmitrov.
Andrey Donets was born in Moscow in 1962. In 1985, he graduated from the First Moscow Medical Institute. In 1998, he earned an MBA degree in the Academy of the National Economy of the Government of Russia.
