Citrix announced the acquisition of Cedexis, a real-time service for optimizing the flow of traffic across public clouds, data centres, CDNs and ISPs. Cedexis technology intelligently routes traffic across dozens of CDNs and hundreds of data centres and POPs globally in order to improve application delivery.

Citrix said the addition of Cedexis' service will help its enterprise customers deliver a better experience to end-users over their apps. "The combined power of Citrix and Cedexis can significantly improve app performance in hybrid and multi-cloud environments using Cedexis’ dynamic and programmable intelligent traffic steering technology," Citrix said in a statement.

No financial details of the takeover were disclosed. Cedexis is a privately held company based in Portland in the US. Citrix previously participated in funding of the company, and other investors included Nokia and Foxconn.
