KOTTAYAM: The Kanjirapally area committee office of the CPM was attacked by a group of unidentified persons early Tuesday morning. They threw a crude bomb around 1 am, and the fire spread in the office. Windowpanes got damaged in the stoning.  Police said it was "an object similar to that of a petrol bomb" and booked unidentified persons for the crime.

CPM local secretary Shameem Ahamed blamed the BJP - RSS activists for the attack. The party also enforced a hartal in town. Recurring political violence marred Kanjirapally - Thambalakkad region for the last three days after clashes between CPM and BJP.
