Dalits stage protest after miscreants 'deface' Ambedkar flex

Some miscreants defaced the flexboard of Dr Ambedkar Welfare Association at Melapura village in the taluk triggering a snap protest on Wednesday. The protesting Dalits alleged that Dr Ambedkar had been insulted by the miscreants.

Six booked

One of the villagers lodged a complaint with the police against six persons of the village, who had allegedly defaced the board thereby hurting their sentiments.

A case has been lodged against the six persons under IPC 295 (insulting national leaders). Deputy SP Vishwanath, CPI C M Ravindra visited the spot and recorded the statements.

DAR platoon and police have been deputed in the village as a precautionary measure.
