Back in January, India.com had informed its readers that Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez’ Drive will miss its Holi 2018 release date and get postponed. And we were right. Producer Karan Johar and director Tarun Mansukhani have just released the new release date of their action thriller and the crew is now getting ready to take us all on for a Drive on September 7, 2018.
Making the announcement, Karan tweeted, “The Dharma and Fox Car franchise races to cinema halls on the 7th of September, 2018!! #DRIVE starting @itsSSR and @Asli_Jacqueline directed by @Tarunmansukhani Buckle up and get set for the zooming ride!! @apoorvamehta18 @foxstarhindi @DharmaMovies (sic).” Tarun also took to Twitter to share the exciting news and said, “Buckle up people!!! #Drive zooms into theatres on 7th September!! @Asli_Jacqueline @itsSSR @karanjohar @DharmaMovies @foxstarhindi (sic).”
It can be recalled that the crew had shot two major schedules in Mumbai and Tel Aviv but there were still some important sequences pending to be canned. Sushant Singh Rajput has been shooting for his film Son Chiraiya in Chambal the past few weeks and he may get on the sets with Tarun to complete rest of the Drive so that the film can reach the post-production stage in time. Apart from this, he also has to start shooting for his already delayed film Kedarnath. Its going to certainly be a busy busy year for the actor.
Interestingly, the news about Drive comes at a time when there is a question mark on the fate of Kedarnath. The director Abhishek Kapoor and production house KriArj entertainment have fallen out leaving the big budget film without a producer. Buzz around town says that the project might get shelved in absence of a strong producer bankrolling the film. Will Kapoor’s cousin Ekta Kapoor step in and help Kedarnath see the light of day? This remains to be seen!
